PROGRAMS

Programs built around the realities of frontline leadership

Frontline Performance Academy applies the same six frontline performance disciplines across different levels of operational leadership.

The emphasis changes depending on the role, the capability gap and the scale of the organisation.

One performance system. Different pathways for building capability.

ACADEMY ARCHITECTURE

Four pathways. One frontline performance system.

Two Academies build capability at the leadership levels where frontline performance is led. Coaching reinforces behaviour in the field. Enterprise Academy scales and embeds the capability.

01

FRONTLINE LEADER ACADEMY

SUPERVISORS, TEAM LEADERS, SHIFT LEADERS AND FOREPERSONS

Build the six disciplines required to translate plans into safe, controlled and productive frontline execution.

02

OPERATIONS LEADER ACADEMY

SUPERINTENDENTS, DEPARTMENT MANAGERS AND LEADERS OF FRONTLINE LEADERS

Build the capability to lead execution across teams, remove systemic barriers and develop stronger frontline leaders.

03

FRONTLINE COACHING

EMBEDDED ACROSS BOTH LEADERSHIP PATHWAYS

Observe behaviour in real work, coach specifically and reinforce stronger operating habits.

04

ENTERPRISE ACADEMY

SCALES AND EMBEDS THE SYSTEM

Build internal coaches, facilitators, standards and governance so the organisation can sustain frontline leadership capability at scale.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT PATHWAY

Where should you start?

The right pathway depends on the leadership level, the capability gap and how broadly the organisation wants to build frontline performance capability.

Different starting points. One frontline performance system.

FRONTLINE LEADER ACADEMY

Build the disciplines required to lead frontline execution

For supervisors, team leaders, shift leaders and forepersons.

The Frontline Leader Academy develops the practical leadership disciplines required to turn plans, standards and priorities into safe, controlled and productive execution.

The focus is not on generic leadership theory.

It is on the everyday work of the frontline leader: creating clarity, making work ready, controlling execution, maintaining standards, solving problems and developing the team.

The shift is from personally solving the work to creating performance through others.

THE SIX DISCIPLINES

01

Set Direction

Create clarity around priorities, expectations and risk.

02

Make Work Ready

Identify and remove barriers before they disrupt execution.

03

Control Execution

Maintain visibility, recognise deviation and intervene early.

04

Lead Standards & Behaviour

Reinforce the standards and behaviours required for strong performance.

05

Solve & Improve

Resolve recurring problems and strengthen the way work is performed.

06

Coach & Build Capability

Develop stronger people, stronger teams and future leaders.

OPERATIONS LEADER ACADEMY

Lead the system around frontline execution

For superintendents, department managers and leaders of frontline leaders.

At this level, the job changes again.

Operations leaders are no longer responsible only for the performance of one crew or shift. They have to create the conditions in which multiple frontline leaders can execute consistently.

That means looking across teams, functions, constraints and leadership behaviour, and intervening where the operating system is limiting performance.

The role is to make strong frontline leadership repeatable across the operation.

CREATE THE CONDITIONS

Give frontline leaders what they need to execute

Set clear priorities, resolve competing demands and ensure frontline leaders have the conditions required for strong execution.

INTEGRATE THE OPERATION

Connect teams, functions and interfaces

Coordinate across functions, shifts and operating interfaces so local decisions support the broader operating plan.

CONTROL PERFORMANCE

Maintain control across the operating area

Keep visibility of performance, recognise emerging issues and intervene before they become systemic losses.

BUILD THE LEADERSHIP SYSTEM

Develop stronger frontline leaders

Coach frontline leaders, raise leadership standards and create greater consistency across teams and crews.

Same frontline performance framework. A different leadership altitude.

FRONTLINE COACHING

Develop leadership in the work

Frontline Coaching focuses on leadership behaviour where it can actually be observed.

A coach works alongside leaders in real operating situations, identifies what is helping or limiting execution, and provides specific feedback that can be applied immediately.

The focus is simple: observe the behaviour, improve it, apply it again.

HOW FRONTLINE COACHING WORKS

01

OBSERVE THE WORK

See the leader in the operating environment. Focus on how they set direction, intervene, reinforce standards, respond to problems and develop others.

02

COACH THE BEHAVIOUR

Provide specific feedback linked directly to what was observed. Make clear what worked, what limited performance and what stronger leadership would look like.

03

REAPPLY AND REINFORCE

Use the feedback in the next relevant situation. Repeated application turns better leadership behaviour into consistent operating habit.

WHEN COACHING IS MOST USEFUL

Typical coaching applications

Frontline Coaching is most valuable when leadership behaviour needs to improve in the work, not just in theory.

01

New frontline leaders

Support leaders who are still building confidence and consistency in role.

02

Leaders stepping into larger roles

Help leaders adjust to broader responsibility and higher expectations.

03

Specific capability gaps

Target behaviours that are limiting execution, standards or team performance.

04

Reinforcement after Academy programs

Turn program learning into visible and repeated operating behaviour.

05

Inconsistent leadership standards

Create stronger consistency across crews, teams and shifts.

06

Operational change

Support leaders as new priorities, constraints or ways of working are introduced.

Real work. Observable behaviour. Specific feedback.

ENTERPRISE ACADEMY

Build the capability to develop your own frontline leaders

Enterprise Academy is designed for organisations that want to build frontline leadership capability at scale.

Rather than creating permanent dependence on external delivery, the Academy progressively builds the internal people, standards and systems required to sustain frontline development over time.

The end state is not more training. It is stronger internal capability.

FPA SUPPORTED

ORGANISATION OWNED

01

LAUNCH

Establish the frontline performance framework, standards and initial Academy deployment.

Create a common starting point.

02

BUILD INTERNAL COACHES

Develop leaders who can observe behaviour, provide feedback and reinforce stronger operating practices.

Move coaching capability inside the organisation.

03

TRANSFER DELIVERY

Develop internal facilitators, tools and delivery capability so more of the Academy can be run internally.

Shift from external delivery to internal capability.

04

SUSTAIN AND SCALE

Create the governance, standards and reinforcement required to maintain quality across sites, teams or businesses.

Make capability development part of how the organisation operates.

WHAT IS TRANSFERRED

Framework and standards

Internal coaching capability

Facilitation capability

Assessment and tools

Governance and reinforcement

Capability that starts with the Academy and increasingly belongs to the organisation.

HOW PROGRAMS ARE ADAPTED

Consistent methodology. Relevant application.

Frontline Performance Academy does not start from a blank sheet for every client.

The core framework, disciplines and capability-building method remain consistent.

What changes is how they are applied to the operation, the leadership levels involved and the performance priorities that matter most.

WHAT STAYS CONSISTENT

The core of the Academy

Frontline Performance Framework

Six Frontline Performance Disciplines

Field-based application

Observation and coaching

Capability assessment and reinforcement

These elements provide the common operating philosophy and development standard across every Academy deployment.

WHAT ADAPTS

The operating application

The application is shaped around the work leaders actually do and the operating outcomes the organisation is trying to improve.

Leadership level

Operating environment

Site language and terminology

Examples and scenarios

Field assignments and coaching focus

Deployment scale and sequencing

A consistent system, applied in the context where performance has to be delivered.

WHERE TO START

Start with the leadership constraint

Different organisations need different starting points.

Some need stronger frontline leaders.

Some need stronger leaders of frontline leaders.

Some need targeted coaching.

Some need an internal capability system that can scale.

The right starting point depends on where frontline performance is being constrained today.

If the challenge is:

Frontline leadership capability

Then start with:

Frontline Leader Academy

If the challenge is:

Consistency across teams and leaders

Then start with:

Operations Leader Academy

If the challenge is:

Specific leadership behaviour

Then start with:

Frontline Coaching

If the challenge is:

Building capability at scale

Then start with:

Enterprise Academy

If the constraint is not yet clear, that is the right place to begin.

We can help identify whether the issue sits in leadership capability, the operating environment, or both.
